Channing Hall is situated on the first floor at 45 Surrey Street, above a row of shops in the heart of Sheffield City Centre. The hall, and the shops beneath, are owned by the Upper Chapel, a Unitarian Church situated behind the hall, just off Norfolk Street & Norfolk Row. Channing Hall was opened in 1882 and named after the American Unitarian Minister William Ellery Channing (1780-1842).
There are three rooms available for hire on a daily basis, the main hall, library room and committee room. There is a kitchen available for hire @ £30/day. There is a caretaker on site. Parking is, like everywhere in the city center, a problem! Please note, Channing Hall has no entertainment or drinks licence and is not usually available on Sundays. The Trustees of the Upper Chapel do not normally allow hire by religious or political groups without prior consent, please give us a call if you are uncertain if your proposed usage will be acceptable.
Rates on applicationTo book, call, fax or email us, we will then invoice you by fax/email. This must be paid in full by the date of the booking to gain entrance to the hall. A cancellation fee of £50 is charged on bookings cancelled at less than 14 days notice.
